As we get closer to the holidays, I start to think about where I want to focus my research in the coming year. It's nice to get together with family for Thanksgiving and this year, particularly, will be sweet. My family is all vaccinated so we will get together and visit. There will be moments, though, that you can just sit and think. I like to sit at the table in my library and write a plan on what I want to focus. This year, I plan to focus on my husband's family. My book on my own family is being published, even though I have found more information after I submitted it for publication.
My husband's gr-gr-grandmother came from Ireland. From where? I don't know. Just recently though, I found her marriage record in Newburgh, Orange, New York. I called the church and they were able to send me the certificate. One of the witnesses to the marriage was a man with the surname Barry, just like gr-gr-grandmother. I can surmise that it was her brother. I need to follow that lead. I'm also going to continue to add the photographs that I have to the postcards that I started. I plan to cover the binder and create a scrapbook cover. So many things to do!
